Founder / Executive Director
Wendy Guo is the Founding Director of the Tennis Atypical Foundation, bringing a unique intersection of advanced analytics, academic rigor, and athletic passion to the adaptive sports community. Holding two Master’s degrees in Management Information Systems and Statistics, Wendy spent years working as a senior data scientist and risk manager before dedicating herself entirely to full-time professional coaching in 2022. As a passionate competitor, Wendy has played in the USTA since 2002, boasting an impressive competitive background that includes multiple 4.0 sectional titles and a national championship. Earning her PTR Certification in Junior Development in 2012, she has since coached over 500 juniors.
By combining her powerful analytical background with acute observations of body language, facial expressions, and spatial perception, Wendy pioneered the first US ABA-informed Neuro-Inclusive Tennis Coaching methodology designed specifically for children with diverse learning abilities. Dedicated to systemic impact, she actively shares her knowledge with regional peer coaches to elevate adaptive sports standards and benefit neurodivergent athletes throughout the Mid-Atlantic and nationwide
Amanda Lin, CPA
Board Treasurer
Amanda Lin, CPA, is a Senior Manager at a public accounting firm and an experienced accounting and financial management professional. She has extensive experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, accounting operations, and internal controls, with a focus on serving nonprofit organizations and closely held businesses. Amanda began her career at a privately held technology company before moving into public accounting in 2018. In her current role, she works with organizational leaders to manage financial operations, prepare and analyze financial statements, develop budgets and forecasts, and strengthen financial processes and controls. As Treasurer, Amanda brings her accounting expertise and commitment to financial transparency and stewardship to support the organization’s financial health and growth.
John Zhang, Ph.D.
Program Delivery and Evaluation
Bringing 30 years of playing experience and a USTA 4.0 playing level, Coach John is dedicated to helping young athletes master the fundamentals and advance their skills. With a proven background in youth instruction, John excels at creating a positive, high-energy environment where learning and fun go hand-in-hand. Focused on building on-court confidence alongside technical growth, John strives to inspire a lifelong passion for tennis in every player.
Beyond his on-court instruction, John plays a vital role in operations by coordinating our tennis programs, coaches, volunteers, and participants. He leads our impact measurement initiatives by developing pre- and post-program surveys to track participant progress. By evaluating key improvements in confidence, social skills, participation, and tennis abilities, John utilizes this critical feedback to continuously improve future programs, support our grant reporting, and ensure the most rewarding experience possible for our athletes.
Andrew Qu
Technology Lead
Andrew Qu is the Director of Technology for Tennis Atypical, where he oversees the digital strategy and leads the development of the organization’s website. He is currently pursuing his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. As a developer for Tennis Atypical, Andrew has been instrumental in shaping the organization’s vision from the ground up, designing a structured mentorship ecosystem that empowers student volunteers and neurodiverse youth alike. He channels his deep commitment to community leadership and organized problem-solving into building a seamless, accessible digital home for the foundation. By bridging community outreach with reliable technical direction, Andrew ensures that our digital platforms effectively support our growing network of families, coaches, and young athletes on and off the court.
